She is a product of AMBO reality TV show and she tells whoever cares to listen that her virginity is still intact despite massive sexual harassment in the movie industry. The Adamawa State-born actress even boasts that nothing would make her lose her virginity to another man except her husband. Annabella Zwyndila, who was recently nominated for ZAFAA Awards as Best Upcoming Actress, opens up to The Entertainer about her virginity.

How were you able to overcome sexual urge in the university?

(Laughs) Listen, my dad taught us good morals. My father is an army officer, so I fear him a lot. In fact, I respect him a lot. He is not everywhere but he keeps his eyes on us. Even when I went abroad, he was not there but I didn’t misbehave. While I was in the hostel he was not there with me but the good morals he taught us have kept me till date.

As a virgin, how are you able to cope with temptations here and there?
Actually, that side of me is dead until I get married. Aside avoiding pre-marital sex, I am also a born again Christian and I fear God a lot. I can remember while we were growing up we had that lesson about sexually transmitted diseases and the fear of all those things really kept me away from sex. So, if I must have a relationship we must enter into agreement of no sex. It has to be a smooth relationship but if you feel you can’t wait and you’re so much in a hurry or your body is inching you, then propose. I have all those things in mind but thank God I have found someone who proposed. So, as a married woman, I’ll be free to do it and know I am not committing any sin

All is now set for the 10th edition of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) taking place on April 28, at the newly-renovated Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa.

The Director General of Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu Brown, said the state government is ready to host the annual movie awards to celebrate excellence in the movie industry as part of Governor Seriaki Dickson’s commitment to the development of the state’s tourism potential.

According to her, this year’s edition would be bankrolled by the public as efforts are already being made by the agency to organise a fund raising dinner in Lagos to seek partnership and support from corporate organisations and public spirited individuals to help in promoting excellence in the movie industry in Africa.

Brown said government alone cannot continue to sponsor the event given the myriads of its financial commitments; hence the need to resort to the public to ensure continuity of this laudable project.
In a telephone interview, the Chief Executive Officer, AMAA, Peace Ayim Osigwe, disclosed that the screening panel for this year’s award is drawn from across Africa and has so far screened hundreds of films, and out of it, 65 movies have been adjudged good enough to move on to the third level of screening.
According to her, at the third level of screening the movies will again be pruned down to a reasonable number for the final presentation to the award jury.

She assured all stakeholders and interest groups that the panel of judges selected to screen the movies are very sincere and transparent in the screening process adding that the caliber of judges put together this year are highly experienced and above all they are men and women of integrity.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta on Thursday said it foiled a kidnap incident in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The JTF Media Coordinator, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, said this at a news briefing where he presented the alleged victim, Patience Agbani, to newsmen in Yenagoa.

Nwachukwu, who said the JTF troop rescued the woman, attributed the feat to the timely information received from the victim.

He urged members of the public in distress to contact the headquarters of the JTF on 0803220 2684 for prompt intervention.

Narrating her ordeal, Agbani said that members of the kidnap gang, numbering six, trailed her on Wednesday night.
She said the suspected kidnappers continued to chase her until she ran into an uncompleted building from where she placed a distress call to the JTF.

According to her, the timely response of the JTF troops compelled the kidnappers, who were on her trail, to retreat.

“When I closed from my shop after 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, as I crossed the road, I noticed that the boys were following me in a very suspicious way and suddenly they started pursing me.

“I ran into an uncompleted building and called the JTF, who arrived almost immediately and the kidnappers who were looking for me ran away on seeing the soldiers.

“That was how they rescued me,” Agbani said. (NAN)

One of our followers on Facebook sent this to me with this comment.
"This is a staff room in Community Secondary School Okutukutu /Etegwe.
The ceiling is open as rain fell and the room became flooded. Diaries, registers and lesson notes were completely soaked up in water.
The govt declared State of Emergency in Education Sector two years ago but up till now Secondary Education in Bayelsa state is joke. Lip service will not help us. Secondary Schools don't even have libraries, laboratories and equipment. What a pity."

The Police in Bayelsa on Tuesday said arrested six suspected kidnappers, who allegedly abducted a woman in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Hilary Opara, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Yenagoa that three AK 47 rifles and other ammunitions were recovered from the hoodlums.

The police boss said that the abducted woman was freed by the police who intercepted the bandits in the Southern Ijaw creeks.

He explained that the suspects had robbed a home at Diabu Community in Southern Ijaw LGA and escaped with some valuables, abducting a woman.

“However, luck ran out on them when some marine policemen intercepted them along the Southern Ijaw waterways and arrested them.

“They are currently being detained and interrogated by the command.”

The commissioner said that the command was tackling criminality, especially kidnapping in the state.

Opara said the police recently arrested over 12 kidnappers in connection with two incidents that occurred in the state.

He advised kidnappers to relocate from the state or be prepared to face the wrath of the law.

“We are working very hard. We are not sleeping. This state cannot accommodate kidnappers and other criminals.

“We will get and deal with them according to the law.”

He urged members of the public to cooperate with the police by providing information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the state. (NAN)

The Bayelsa Government on Tuesday denied media reports that it had filed a suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over funds looted by its former Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the EFCC had in a statement on Monday said that it was yet to be served court summons for the suit, reportedly filed in a Federal High Court, Abuja, by the government.

Mr Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media and Publicity at EFCC, in the statement, accused the Bayelsa government of using the suit as a ploy to distract the commission from ongoing N14.7 million fraud case against some officials of the government.

NAN recalls that the EFCC had on Feb. 28 arraigned Messrs Apiri Richard Tonye and Paul Charles before Justice Kate Abiri of the Bayelsa State High Court, Yenegoa.

However, a statement issued in Yenagoa by Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Seriake Dickson, denied the involvement of the state government in the said suit.

“The attention of the Bayelsa State Government has been drawn to a publication in some sections of the media entitled `Bayelsa asks EFCC to remit N1.4 billion from Alamieyeseigha’.

“The said reports quoted one Mr George Uboh, Chief Executive of Panic Alert Security System, reportedly acting on the mandate of the Bayelsa State Government, wrote to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to remit the twin sums of N1.4 billion and $1.3 million recovered from a former Governor of the state, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

“The Bayelsa State Government denies the reports and stated categorically clear that it did not mandate any individual or firm to act on its behalf to request or institute any suit against the EFCC,” the statement read in part.

The statement called on the EFCC and the general public to disregard the publications. (NAN)

Bayelsa State Government has asked an Abuja Federal High Court to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to immediately remit to it the sum of N1.4bn, and another $1.3m recovered from a former governor of the state, Diepreye Alamieyesiegha .

The suit was filed by one Mr. George Uboh, the Chief Executive of Panic Alert Security System, who said he was acting with the mandate of the Bayelsa State Government.
According to Uboh, in line with the said mandate, he wrote to the EFCC requesting that the funds be remitted within seven days.
He added that, in response to the letter, he met with officials of the EFCC on December 19, 2013, after which the Commission assured that the remittance would be made within a short time.
Uboh further explained that, following the EFCC’s failure to remit the funds as promised, the Bayelsa State Government had instructed that a suit be filed against the anti-graft agency in a bid to recover the sums.
In a writ of summons issued at the Abuja FHC against EFCC and its Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, the plaintiff alleged that the Commission was trading with the seized funds.
The plaintiff in the writ of summons asked the court to declare that the failure of the EFCC to remit the complete funds recovered from Alamieyesiegha and “subsequently trading with the funds by way of funds placement/fixed deposits is an act of corruption and an economic crime contrary to sections 6 and 7 of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004.”
In the suit, the plaintiff’s counsel, Mr. Anthony Agbonlahor, also asked the court to order the EFCC to immediately remit the funds with the interest.
The plaintiff asked the court to, “direct EFCC to pay to it $400,000.00 being the amount forfeited by its former governor and which funds had since been repatriated by the United States Government to the EFCC.”
Bayelsa State Government also wants the court to order EFCC to pay 21 per cent interest on the N1.4bn and the $1.3m from November 1, 2013, until the final determination of the matter.
